Government Contracting Workshop Series

The government contracting workshop series hosted by the Aurora-South Metro SBDC and sponsored by Connect2DOT and the Minority Business Office is wrapping up for 2019.  The workshops range from the perspective of a business wanting to discover the market potential for their business and what the government buys to the existing business wanting to become better at obtaining and maintaining government contracts.

“Construction Scheduling & Project Management” is coming up THIS FRIDAY, September 6th, 9AM – 11AM, at the Aurora Municipal Center.  This workshop is an excellent example of how an existing business can improve on contract delivery and efficiencies.  The instructor has over 30 years in the construction industry.  Read more and register here.

Small Business Resource & Lenders Fair

Did you miss the March Resource Expo?  No worries, Arapahoe Libraries is host to the Aurora-South Metro SBDC’s Small Business Resource & Lenders Fair on Saturday, May 4th, 10AM – 12PM, at Smoky Hill Library in Centennial.

There is a wealth of business resources at your fingertips.  Learn about many nonprofit government and lending resources at the upcoming at this FREE event to learn about helpful local government and funding resources available to start or expand your business.  This is a  ‘kick off’ to National #SmallBusinessWeek.

Join other entrepreneurs and visit over a dozen business resource partners who will each give a short introduction to their services. There will be speakers from the SBA Colorado District Office, and several other state and local agencies. Nonprofit lenders will be on hand to discuss their funding programs with attendees. Marcia McGilley, Executive Director of the Aurora-South Metro SBDC, will emcee the event, and there will be a brief presentation about Arapahoe Libraries’ business resources and from a local small business owner who has received benefit from these same resources. The fair is a free event; just let us know you’re coming.

The third annual Englewood Business Resource & Lenders Expo is being held Friday, March 22nd, 8:00 – 9:30 AM, at the Englewood Civic Center, 2nd floor Community Room.  Twenty business resource partners will each give a short introduction to their services. Marcia McGilley of the Aurora-South Metro SBDC will emcee the event, and the City of Englewood will give an update from the Economic Development Office.  A continental breakfast will be served, AND it’s all FREE.  Get all the details for this free event here.

Certification Workshops

Do you want to expand your business opportunities by selling to the government?  Do you know if the government buys your products and services?

The Aurora-South Metro SBDC is collaborating with Connect2DOT and the Colorado Minority Business Office to offer a series of certification workshops in 2019–all taught by certification, estimating and transportation experts.  The first in the series is this Friday, and a second companion and essential workshop is April 26th.  Plan to attend both workshops in order to take advantage of free and confidential one-on-one consulting with a certification expert.

Boulder Municipal Airport’s DBE Program

PUBLIC NOTICE

Boulder Municipal Airport has established a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program in accordance with regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation, 49 CFR Part 26.  For Fiscal Year 2018 through 2020, the Airport has established an overall goal of 2.33% of the Federal financial assistance it will receive for improvements to the airport.  The Airport estimates it will meet this goal through 0% race neutral means and 2.33% race conscious means.

The proposed DBE goal and its rationale will be available for review between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM at Boulder Municipal Airport, 3327 Airport Road, Boulder, CO 80301.  Comments on the DBE goal will be accepted for 30 days from the date of this publication and can be sent to the following:
