From the SBA Office of Veterans Business Development, Boots To Business is a three-step entrepreneurial education initiative offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as an elective track within the Department of Defense’s revised Training Assistance Program called Transition Goals, Plans, Success (Transition GPS). Aurora’s Buckley AFB is host to the SBA Colorado District Office’s Boots To Business program that teaches participants how to jump from military retirement to business ownership.

The Aurora – South Metro SBDC is proud to host the SBA Emerging Leaders Initiative, in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This is a federal training program that specifically focuses on executives of businesses poised for growth in historically challenged communities. The initiative provides these executives with the organizational framework, resource network, and motivation required to build sustainable businesses and promote the economic development within urban communities. This SBA program is valued in the thousands of dollars and designed to help qualifying small businesses achieve growth to the next level.

aurora business recognition awards
The City of Aurora established the Aurora Business Recognition Awards Program over 10 years ago to acknowledge businesses that contribute to the city’s economic vitality. The City of Aurora also selects an Aurora business that demonstrates a commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste diversion, water conservation, and/or social responsibility. Awardees receive recognition at a celebratory event in early December hosted by the City of Aurora.
