The Cost of an Employee

Many small business owners do not have a firm grasp on the cost of an employee.  The cost is greater than the wage or salary you agree to pay the new employee.  The SBA’s article by Barbara Weltman, an attorney and small business advocate, is worth the short read at the SBA’s blog.

The SBDC is partially funded by the SBA.

Although we always recommend the services of a professional accountant, the Aurora-South Metro would be happy to forward several links to employer resources that will help you set up your business for employees, should you make that decision.

Government Contracting Workshop Series

The government contracting workshop series hosted by the Aurora-South Metro SBDC and sponsored by Connect2DOT and the Minority Business Office is wrapping up for 2019.  The workshops range from the perspective of a business wanting to discover the market potential for their business and what the government buys to the existing business wanting to become better at obtaining and maintaining government contracts.

“Construction Scheduling & Project Management” is coming up THIS FRIDAY, September 6th, 9AM – 11AM, at the Aurora Municipal Center.  This workshop is an excellent example of how an existing business can improve on contract delivery and efficiencies.  The instructor has over 30 years in the construction industry.  Read more and register here.

Other upcoming workshops include “Is Certification Right For Your Business”, Friday, September 13th, 1PM – 3PM, “Your Capability Statement” on Friday, October 18th, 1PM – 3PM, and “Marketing To Prime Contractors” — recently added to the line-up — Friday, November 1st, 1PM – 3PM.

All of the above will take place at the Aurora Municipal Center.  Click here to register.
